  • Sustainable ingredients:
    • IR3535, the main active ingredient in Newell repellents, non-toxic to aquatic organisms, rapidly biodegradable
    • 100% biodegradable vegetal-based fatty acids
  • Natural ingredients:
    • Citrodiol®, produced from the oil of the Eucalyptus Citriodora tree, located in sustainable plantations with ECOCERT certificate
    • Oatmeal amino acids
  • Organic ingredients:
    • Organic Tea Tree Oil, used as a repellent against lice
    • Organic Java Citronella, natural ingredient with insect repellent properties

We apply eco-design criteria to minimize the environmental impact of those factors that are considered most relevant, such as CO2 emissions.

We use vegetable inks whenever possible and our packaging is FSC certified. The FSC Principles and Criteria describe the essential elements or standards of environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable forest management.

Our labels are made from a recycled PET film with a thickness below the standard (70% less plastic) that is manufactured from consumer waste, favoring a circular economy and reducing the carbon footprint by 70%, in comparison to non-recycled material labels.

We use 100% recyclable PET, 100% recyclable HDPE or 100% R-PET (100% recycled PET) bottles, wherever possible, made from waste materials. R-PET bottles are slightly different in color from regular PET bottles.

Newell takes care of people

At Newell we not only believe in caring for and respecting our environment, but we are also concerned with people's well-being. For this reason, we have partnered with Action Against Hunger to support its humanitarian response in Mali during 2021.

  • Action Against Hunger in Mali
  • Project: Stop Hunger in Kayes

Action Against Hunger has been present in Mali since 1996. With five offices and a team of more than 250 professionals, in 2019 it reached more than 540,000 people. Its programs in Mali focus on projects related to water and sanitation, livelihood-security, food security and health-nutrition.

Their teams work to face emergency needs in the northern, eastern, and central parts of the country. Places where the conflict is experienced with more intensity.

Newell has partnered with the Action Against Hunger in a project for nutritional and food improvement in the Kayes region (Mali). The project is a holistic intervention that will address three of the factors that cause hunger: health problems linked to malnutrition, problems of food insecurity and instability of livelihood.

BENEFICIARIES

  • Children under 2 years old.
  • Expecting and nursing mothers.
  • Men and women with insecurity in their livelihood.
